Fiber is the name of the game

So a pear with skin on has 1 more gram of fiber than an apple with skin on. So, I will commence my eating of pears again, and this time I won't peel them.

We have a problem

I am hungry. I know my lunch is not going to cover it. I brought a Pizza Quesadilla, which is corn tortilla, piece or american cheese and some pepperoni. Usually I try to have what we have for dinner for lunch the next day. Issue: Last night we ate the leftovers. I am going to need to figure out how to eat lunch and what can I have for lunch. I won't do salads everyday.

Today so far:

Breakfast: Glass of OJ and 20 grapes (I counted)

Snack: Hard Boiled egg

Lunch: Diet Coke and Pizza quesadilla (there are two of them)

Snack: Apple

Dinner: A hot dog at city dogs... I know I know.

Whoa we're a fifth of the way there

Yesterday, I skipped breakfast. I think I took my vitamins and supplements for the first time since Friday. I had a hard boiled egg for snack. I had a foot long spicy Italian from Subway for lunch. I know I know the bread. But it was cheap and I was hungry. I also had a diet coke for late snack. For dinner, I had chicken, rice and green beans. So good. Very simple. I also used a smaller plate to get smaller portions. Even with all this terrible eating, I weighed myself on Tuesday. It said I lost 10 more pounds. I thought the scale is broken. I checked back later in the day. Same weight as in the morning. 20 lbs down. I want to lose between 100-150lbs. I don't really want to weigh a certain number, I want to be a certain dress size. I don't think I have lost a dress size yet...

Today I am back on the 6 meals.

Breakfast: Grapes, glass of OJ supplements.

Snack: Hard Boiled egg

Lunch: Chicken and Rice

Snack: Apple

Dinner: Leftover chicken and rice

This past weekend

I ate really bad. I didn't necessarily break the no flour no sugar, but I didn't eat my small meals throughout the day. On Saturday I didn't eat until 6pm. I had a diet coke for breakfast, I guess. Then at 6 I had sushi. It was really good. Miso soup, salad, and some sushi. I got a crunchy scallop roll, so I had a little bit of flour with dinner. Then at 10pm, I had mexican rice... no sugar or flour, and a like half of a chicken enchilada. I am not sure if the enchilada was corn or flour. I thought it tasted like corn, but my friend said it was flour. So, who knows. Then, when I got home at 1:30am, I had a 1/4 of one of those Alice Springs Chicken quesadilla and dipped it in the honey mustard sauce. It was good, but not worth it. Then on Sunday. For lunch I had a Flour steak and cheese quesadilla, about half of one, iced tea with equal. And a spicy, crunchy shrimp taco. Again, not very worth it. We went to Applebee's and I decided to get the least expensive thing on the menu. At the Redskins football game, I had chicken tenders and fries, a diet coke, something else that I thought was great. Crab Pretzel. It was like crab, mayo and cheese baked on a large soft pretzel. It was, again, not worth it to break the life style change. But I will be back on it again. On Monday, I also did not follow the 6 meals a day thing. I ate at 7pm at night. I made a veggie and chicken stirfry with black beans. It was pretty good. I also had a diet coke with that. I put cherry tomatoes in the stir fry. Made it too sweet. Won't do that again.

The day after losing 10 pounds

I went for a medium length walk last night. Probably a short walk to walker standards. We went out sort of late and I didn't want to get caught by the river with no sun. So, I cut it short. Luckily, I rolled my ankle and it still hurts today...

My dinner last night was hamburger helper. I ate all the noodles first so I could concentrate and enjoy the meat. Jonathan saw what I was doing, said he wanted a bite and ate most of the meat left on my plate. I didn't want to get anymore hamburger helper because I am trying to unsuccessfully avoid flour and pretty much was left hungry. I wasn't starving by any means, but I ended up not eating too much yesterday. I drank more water and am trying to be conscious of my water consumption. The hardest part of starting a diet is looking at all the food you all ready have and not really having the money to buy more things. So, I am doing pretty good for myself considering that. But, I am still going out to eat which isn't helping either.

September 10: Breakfast: maybe an ounce or 2 of thin sliced honey ham deli meat (I know the honey, but I was too lazy to peel and cut a pear). I also find it hard to eat in the mornings and need to grab things easily. Maybe I should start preparing my fruit at night. I also had a glass of water and am continuing with my vitamins and supplements.

Snack: Hard Boiled Egg

No Control

I have lost 10 pounds so far. I did my weekly weigh-in, which will be Thursday morning and I am down 10 pounds. I have been pretty good about cutting sugar, and little bad about the flour. I still have had about 3 or 4 meals that are flour filled. What sucks is the lack of control. Last night I went to Maggianos, so I knew I was going to eat real pasta, non of that whole wheat or gluten free crap, but real made from flour and eggs pasta. But then there was bread on the table and I have like 3 or 4 pieces of that, plus the fried calamari, which was 20-30 pieces. Probably more. My friend liked calamari too, so it was a fight to the death.

I have been using my planner to keep track of my meals. I am not calorie counting, but for the most part, I think I am eating better. I also have started taking supplements. There was a a buy 1 get 1 free sale at CVS so I bought three. Just a Multi-Vitamin for women, Flax Seed Oil, and Fish Oil. The Fish oil is supposed to help my triglycerides go down, I have also heard the flax seed oil will help with that. Either way, all the vitamins say they are good for the heart, scares away cancer, and fish oil helps grease up the old joints. Think of yourself as a tin man and fish oil is the canister.

My meal for this week so far:

September 7- Breakfast- Apple, Over easy Egg, Glass of Water, the above mentioned vitamins

Snack- Hard Boiled egg (no salt)

Lunch- Chick-fil-a Chicken Salad with spicy dressing (dressing has sugar in it) Unsweetened Iced tea that I sweetened with 2 equals.

Snack- Diet coke/apple

Dinner- 3.5 pieces of thin Pork Tenderloins, 1/4 cup white rice, 1/4 cup beans, some red onion and carmen pepper and spring onion. A sugar free OJ marinade that I reduced to put on top of the rice and pork- delicious. This isn't the site we got it from, but it is the same recipe: http://thematzats.blogspot.com/2008/02/cuban-pork-tenderloin.html. What I did was, after the pork was done in the marinade and cooking in the oven, I put the left over marinade in a pan and let it come to a boil, then I added the chopped red onion and carmen peppper and the white part of the spring onion and let it cook in the marinade as it reduced. Then right before I served, I added the green part of the onion to get them a little cooked. It was very salty, so I might even suggest not adding any salt, just salting your tenderloins and adding it at the table if you need it.

Dessert- No Sugar Klondike Bar

September 8- Breakfast: Pear, Glass of Simply Orange, Glass of Water

Snack: Hard boiled Egg

Lunch- 1/3 cup rice, 1/2 cup black beans, a little red onion, Diet Coke, one of those single serve Chi-Chi's salsa thing

Snack -Apple

Dinner- Maggianos- 3 pieces of bread dipped in oil or the cheese sauce of my ravioli, 20-30 pieces fried calamari, Four cheese ravioli dinner, 2 diet cokes, glass of water

September 9- Breakfast- Pear, 2 glasses or water, corner of American Cheese slice (1/4 ounce maybe?)

Snack: Hard Boiled Egg

Lunch: 1/4 cup white rice, 1/4 cup black beans, Diet Coke, two corn tortillas

Snack: Apple, maybe a 1/4 cup left over gnocchi from Maggianos.

Dinner: Bowl of hamburger helper... more noodles

So those are my meals. I need to up my water intake. I am still not really exercising or anything. Maybe this week.

Dear Sisters

Hello Sisters,

I am embarking on a new lifestyle plan and was wondering if any of you wanted to go along this journey with me. No more sugar or flour. I think some of us may have tried this or variations of this before. However, as I have recently learned that I am on the path to diabetes, I am embarking on a new lifestyle. I realize for some of us this will be easier than for others (Aimee), but I am willing to share with you any information I find on foods that are sugar and flour free. I have all ready found out that Prego Pasta Sauce is sugar free. From what I am seeing, it looks like you will have to cook most of your meals and/or really take a look at food labels.

I am right now drinking slim fast but I am cutting them out once I finish all the cans, which will be in a day or two. I have been doing the 321 plan and also no added sugar other than what is in the Slim Fast. I haven't noticed any weight loss but I do feel like my pants are fitting better. It probably has to do with the fact I am no longer eating 3000+ calories a day (or meal) but no more than 1200.

My current eating plan is (or trying to be):

Breakfast: Slim Fast

Snack: Fruit (pair or apple)

Lunch: Slim Fast

Afternoon snack: Fruit (pair or apple)

Dinner: around 500 calories of food

After dinner snack: 100 calorie Klondike Bar with no added Sugar

Alrighty... I forgot my cell phone at home today and haven't decided if I want to walk back and get it yet.
